A BBC news report has today shed light on an issue which affects more parents than the wider public may realise – violence at the hands of their own children.

By gaining an insight into the lived experience of parents and children around the UK, the hard-hitting report aims to tackle an aspect of family life which appears to fall under the radar in a worrying number cases.

Interviewing both parents and their offspring in jarring footage uploaded to YouTube earlier today, a BBC reporter examines the motivation behind such worrying behaviour before discussing the implications for both the child and their family.

Interviewing experts in the field in an effort to measure the prevalence of such behaviour, the report then focuses its attention on a programme which was established in order to educate and support both children and adults living in turmoil.

Heartwrenching interviews with teen and pre-teen children and their devastated parents makes for uncomfortable viewing at times, but there’s no doubt this is an issue which needs to be acknowledged and addressed before it’s too late.
