It has been just over a week since the tragic death of Katie Rough, and the schoolgirl’s heartbroken mother has paid tribute to the seven-year-old.
In a Facebook post, a grieving Alison wrote: “My beautiful, beautiful, sassy, kind, amazing girl. I love her more than any words could even come close to explaining. Life will never, ever be the same again.”
“My children, my grandson and my husband are my whole entire life, I live only for them,” she added.
The heartbreaking tribute comes just days after Alison and her husband, Paul, held a memorial tribute to Katie on what would have been her eighth birthday.
Family, friends and neighbours gathered to release multi-coloured balloons, each one carrying a handwritten note for Katie.
Katie was found stabbed in a wooded area in her native York, on January 9. She was rushed to hospital but, sadly, she died shortly after.
An as yet unnamed 15-year-old girl has since been charged with Katie’s murder.
