We can’t imagine how heartbreaking it must be to battle what you have been told is a terminal illness, especially when your children have full knowledge of what is going on. This is the case for British mum Leanne Hock, whose children have launched a campaign to ‘save her’ following a terminal diagnosis.

According to reports, 33-year-old Leanne has been told by medics that they can do no more for her in her battle against the extremely rare maxillary sinus carcinoma cancer that was she first diagnosed with back in 2009.

Having researched alternative treatments, however, Leanne is hoping to travel to Mexico and try out a new procedure that could save her life. Her two children - 15-year-old Loui and eight-year-old Niko – are backing her all the way, with an online petition to raise the £40,000 needed to send her to Mexico and pay for her treatment.

Leanne’s sad story began almost seven years ago. After complaining of a blocked nose for three years, she was finally diagnosed with cancer and told she would have to have half of her face removed in order to beat the illness.

The mum-of-two underwent invasive surgery at the Royal Derbyshire Hospital, to prevent a tumour behind her cheekbone from returning. During the procedure, her eye socket, cheekbone, top jaw, and the roof of her mouth were removed. Her face was then reconstructed using bone from one of her legs.

While Leanne was told that she would spend the next five years recovering, she was left shocked and devastated when, last March, the front of her jawbone collapsed. Radiotherapy treatment had weakened her bones, and she was left with a totally collapsed face on one side.

Shortly after, doctors confirmed that her cancer had returned, only this time it was terminal. On top of this, Leanne – who can no longer work – was left totally devastated by her appearance, to the point where she does not like to be seen in public.

This week, Leanne appealed for help with her fundraising campaign (link here), with her children adding their voices in a heart-wrenching video.

We are praying for Leanne and her little ones, and they will remain in our thoughts.
