Global politics is, as we all know, an incredibly complex issue and while most adults wouldn't claim to have all the answers, our children view the world in a much more matter-of-fact manner.

Reacting to a radio report which documented the experience of children who were targeted with tear gas by police in the Calais 'Jungle' and Macedonia, Neve Beach put pen to paper and outlined her concerns to the UK Prime Minister, David Cameron.

Drawing on her own understanding of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Neve composed a succinct letter which serves as evidence that our children are often more aware of global issues than we might realise.

The 10-year-old began her letter, writing:"I am writting to you about the way the refugees are being treated. No one deserved to be put in mettal containers or to be tear gassed no matter were they come from." (sic)

"In my school we have been learning about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and no.1 is everyone is born free, but the refugees are not free!" she continued.

Concluding her correspondence with a question which many members of the public would admit to grappling with, Neve asked: "So why are you not letting the refugees into the UK?"

Proud mum Danni, who posted Neve's letter on Facebook, explained the motivation for her daughter's letter, saying: "When the news came on in the car, you could just hear the sound of these refugee children screaming."

"My girls were in floods of tears. Neve asked me 'why is this happening' and I just couldn't give her an answer," Danni continued. "When we got home she went straight up to her room to write the letter. I'm really proud of her."

Neve's letter has been inundated with messages of support since its upload yesterday.
