Me Time With Netflix

Netflix are asking MummyPages mums how they’ll be spending their time now that the kids are back in school.

Maybe you’ll be finishing that blog post you started writing two months ago? Or perhaps you’ll be finally making use of your neglected gym membership? How about you look after yourself for once, put your feet up, and treat yourself to a relaxing moment with cup of tea and your favourite Netflix show.

Netflix is available anywhere there’s a wifi connection, and can be watched on numerous devices, including mobiles, tablets, smart TVs and games consoles. With a massive selection of top quality films and award-winning TV shows, as well as access to Netflix’s exclusive original programmes, there’s always something new to discover.

So, how will you be using Netflix now that you have a bit more time to yourself? Do you work part-time and look forward to that hour in the afternoon when you unwind with an episode of Suits? Are you giving yourself some free time after you drop the kids at school to grab a coffee and catch up on Orange is the New Black on your iPad? Or do you wait until the kids are safely tucked up in bed to binge-watch the final season of The Killing on your smart TV with the hubby? Whatever it is, we'd love to hear about it!

Share how as a mum, you use Netflix to find some quality me time and be in with a chance to win a weekend away for you and your partner at the g Hotel & Spa in Galway.

With summer over, darker evenings, kids back to school I'm getting a proper routine back in place (which means more me time ... woo hoo!). I'm going to make a list of thie things I want to watch on Netflix, I've read a lot of recommendations on here, so I need a plan to get to watch them all. Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Good Wife ... the list goes on and on ... I better get waching. Wink

It's great to catch up on my favourite shows on Netflix at at time that suits me, I love all the boxsets, documentaries and other shows on Netflix, and it's even better that I can watch it when all the little ones are gone to bed.

I'm addicted to House of Cards, and watch it at the weekend when I have quiet mummy me time on a Saturday night. We do a lovely family evening watching the kids choice of show first, and then when they are off to bed, I get to catch up on House of Cards - my current Netflix addiction. I love it!

I can't believe I am not the only one who watches Netflix in the bath!! It is my favourite part of the day (when I get a chance to do it) I have 3 little ones under 5 - so things can get a little hectic. I have tried watching Netflix while ironing - but I just found that I couldn't enjoy it as much. Relaxing in the bath or curling up on the couch with a small-ish glass of vino and catching up on New Girl or Breaking Bad on Netflix is just bliss.

I'm working a four day week, which means one whole day on my own in the house - woo hoo! I get all my chores done early, just like a good mum should and I sit myself down and watch a movie haven't seen before, that I've always been meaning to ... watch Arbitrage last week, excellent viewing.

I'm on maternity leave, so lots of times that I'm on my own - day and night, so Netflix is my new best friend, for me and DH. it's so nice to have somehting on to keep me company, especially when DH went back to work. it's also great that I can re watch something I miss, which is quite often ... DS doesn't always play ball with my viewing effors. lol.

Love Netflix ... slightly addicted too. My quiet me time is actually shared at the moment, with my little 3 month old, ssssshh not a word to anyone. Sometimes it's a late night feed, or sometimes during the day when the bigger ones are at school ... it's so nice just to sit back and have a relaxing time, just for me. Thankfully Netflix is always on hand too.

I use Netflix a little differently to get me time ... with all the kids shows on Netflix, on a Saturday eveing we have a Netflix kiddie session, each of them get to choose one show, and they all watch theirs together. Three shows in total with a bowl of pop corn each, while mum gets time to sit down and relax. Best me time out there - with the kids enjoying themselves, everyone happy

Witih early shifts for work every other week, I have to go to bed crazy early, and it's not always easy to peel myself off the sofa ... so I switch on the lap top, set it up in the bedroom and I allow myself two episodes an evening (House of Cards & Tudors are the current faves) ... means I go to bed early. Winner.

Now that the evenings are getting a bit shorter with Autumn here and winter fast approaching, I can happily return to my Netflix evenings, I like to snuggle in to bead early with my iPad and catch up on my favouite episodes ... I'm watching Tudors ... my perfect evening in.

Going to the gym used to be my me time ... but with three young kids, that doesn't happen so often. We decided to get a treadmill in the house, and whilst it's a great idea .. in practice it's hard to get motivated to use it. Well .. not until I put a TV in the room with it, now I just swtich on Netflix and I could be running for an hour before I realise I've done 5K. Keeping fit is really important to me, but it's never been more enjoyable since I included Netflifx in my workout routine.

Haven't gotten into the series boxsets yet, but I just love watching movies on Netflix. It's our weekend indulgence ... we put the house on complete shutdown and have sofa Saturday nights ... so much more enjoyable than standard TV. And the best thing? No ads. LOL

I don't have a specific me time, it's just any time I get a moment to myself, I never know in advance (three very young kids) so I rarely get to plan anything. Because of this, it's great to have Netflix, I can choose the movie or documentatry to watch and chill out for an hour. Bliss. I have my eye on Breaking Bad ... watced one episode but wasn't that taken, but I've seen so many mums on here saying it's amazing I might just give it another go.
