Me Time With Netflix

Netflix are asking MummyPages mums how they’ll be spending their time now that the kids are back in school.

Maybe you’ll be finishing that blog post you started writing two months ago? Or perhaps you’ll be finally making use of your neglected gym membership? How about you look after yourself for once, put your feet up, and treat yourself to a relaxing moment with cup of tea and your favourite Netflix show.

Netflix is available anywhere there’s a wifi connection, and can be watched on numerous devices, including mobiles, tablets, smart TVs and games consoles. With a massive selection of top quality films and award-winning TV shows, as well as access to Netflix’s exclusive original programmes, there’s always something new to discover.

So, how will you be using Netflix now that you have a bit more time to yourself? Do you work part-time and look forward to that hour in the afternoon when you unwind with an episode of Suits? Are you giving yourself some free time after you drop the kids at school to grab a coffee and catch up on Orange is the New Black on your iPad? Or do you wait until the kids are safely tucked up in bed to binge-watch the final season of The Killing on your smart TV with the hubby? Whatever it is, we'd love to hear about it!

Share how as a mum, you use Netflix to find some quality me time and be in with a chance to win a weekend away for you and your partner at the g Hotel & Spa in Galway.

My Me Time = Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller. (Sherlock) Fflippin great. Kids off to bed (earlier if I can get away with it, especially one these wintery evening) and I settle in for a few episodes. I'm addicted. It's like reading a great book.

I have some secret me time moments but they are all bed based. I prop myself up on the bed with a few pillows, pull the duvet up and catch up on Gossip Girl (I am allowed mention Chuck Bass??).
I love it! It never forgets where I am in a programme and starts back where I last watched. If you haven't started using it, get to it now. You'll love it!

We only have one TV at home so when the kids are watching TV, I watch it on my tablet sitting on my bed - hubbie is with the kids and I just steal some me time. I'm watching Orange is the new black - love how the characters are unfolding. On a separate subject, has anyone seen the character Crazy Eyes in real life? She's lovely although I can't get over the floor peeing incident.....

I wat until the kids are in bed, and I get my me time. I get into my PJs, make myself the biggest cuppa (one that I know I'll manage to actually finish in one sitting!!!) and I switch on Netflix. I've just started HOC ... enthralling. Now I just have to figure out how to add a few more hours to my evening, to fit in a few more episodes LOL

I try to get through a couple of episodes of Ray Donovan while the kids are at school - a mummy has to have her me time, and I just can't stay awake in the evenings. HA ha. At the weekend, I've also started watching Breaking Bad (I know I'm probably the ONLY person in the world who hasn't seen it all yet) - great, if a bit unsettling, viewing.

I watch it in the car when the kids are having their afternoon snooze - so much easier than reading when you head is completely addled.

I have to say there's normally very little time for me time in my house, but I do get my Sunday mornings to myself. DH takes the kids out, I get breakfast in bed before he goes, and I get to catch up on my choice of viewing. Thank goodness for Netlfix ... old movies, new documentaries, comedy, box sets - all at my disposal on a Sunday morning . Bliss.

My me time is every eveinng ... a mummy has to get her down time, so once the kids go to bed, I down all tools, no more house work or other 'housey' tasks (there's enough of that during the day). I've just finished watching Orange is the New Black (both seasons, brilliant) and I'm currently searching through to find a new show ... there's a-really-lot to choose from :)

My favourite me time with Netflix is at the weekend and I watch all old movies, It's briliant. For years I asked me husband to create me a box set of my favourite old movies ... well let's just say it was on his 'to do' list for a while. Then we found Netflix - et voila, all there for the taking/viewing.
Thank you Netflix :)

Is there anything better than finding the most entertaining box set on Netflix? Nope - there isn't. But the absolute desperation when you finish it ... almost makes you not want to start another one. And then you do. And so the cycle continues. Gotta love Netflix.

Sometimes, I get so caught up on the kiddies shows on Netflix, that I forget to check out the stuff for me! Ha ha. Luckily I've realised the error of my ways, and re-claimed Netflix for myself every evening. Hooray. The hubby is enjoying Breaking Bad, but I just cannot get into it - thank fully we have a second TV so he watches it in his den, and I get to make my own selection which I love.

Me time is about me and my daughter watching her favourite movies. It's just so lovely to snuggle on the sofa after a busy day at the park.

Friday nights are my me time nights. Granny takes the kids for a sleep over and me and the hubby get a 'date night'! Sometimes we go out, but mostly, we have a lovely meal at home and a movie. And thank goodness for Netflix because there is NEVER anything on TV when I want to watch it, and Friday nights are the worst. Currently we're enjoying the Homeland series ... never had the time to watch it when it was on TV. Such a great show, and brilliant to get watch a few episodes together.

My guilty pleasure if Damages - my partner plays footie every week so I snuggle down with a glass of blanco and my snuggley blankie and get watching. It's compelling TV if you haven't started watching it. I'm quite partial to Ted Danson....

My husband runs the bath for me once a week - we're talking bubbles, candles and low lights. No one else is allowed in despite the queue of kids at the door. (I do shower on the other days Wink). I always bring the ipad into the bathroom and catch up on one show - but I have to top the bathwater up half way through, otherwise it goes cold. My only fear is dropping the ipad into the bath so I prop it up on the kids toy thingy. Highly recommended.
