There are many stories of miracle births out there, and we have yet another one to share with you today.
Doctors have hailed triplets born two years apart as ‘miracle’ babies.
Astonishingly, while little Ethan, Isabel and Arthur Preston were all conceived at the very same time, Ethan was born two years and five days ahead of Isabel and Arthur.
Parents Katie and Matthew Preston conceived their three little ones after undergoing IVF treatment, having tried for a family for five years.
With Matthew having a low sperm count, the couple were informed that they only had a 1% chance of conceiving at all.
After undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatment, whereby a single sperm is injected directly into an egg, six embryos were created in the IVF process. One embryo was then transferred into Katie’s uterus.
Following a complicated pregnancy, baby Ethan was born just before Christmas in 2012. The couple then faced the tough decision of what to do with their remaining embryos and, eventually, they opted to have the two very best ones transferred.
The couple were surprised and delighted to discover during their first pregnancy scan that they were expecting twins.
Now, as they face into their first Mother’s Day as a family of five, Katie and Matthew say they cannot believe their luck.
“They are our three little miracles…They keep me busy, and are certainly a handful, but we feel complete and adore our triplets,” said Katie.
