Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut Lady Bird has been welcomed with rave reviews. And now the film reigns as the highest scoring movie on Rotten Tomatoes!

The comedy-drama follows Christine, or ‘Lady Bird’, (played by national treasure Saoirse Ronan) and her roller-coaster of a relationship with her mother, Marion (Laurie Metcalf from Roseanne). While Christine and Marion’s relationship is by no means perfect, it captures so well the tension and tenderness found between mothers and daughters.

The film’s approval rating now stands at a fresh 100 percent on the website, with 170 reviews and an average rating of 8.9/10.

The previous record holder was Toy Story 2, with 163 positive reviews.

Other films that grace the 100 percent list include biographical documentary Man on Wire (157 reviews), Toy Story (78 reviews), and Rear Window (63 reviews).

“We put our heart and souls into this movie, and the last step of this deeply collaborative art form of filmmaking is giving the film to the audience and the film critics,” Greta said to Rotten Tomatoes, “That there has been such a warm reception is a dream come true.”

“Thank you to everyone who has seen the film and has written about it so thoughtfully. We are all on cloud nine and using our tomato emoji more than we ever thought possible,” Greta added.

Congrats to the Lady Bird team! The film doesn't come out here until February, but we are so excited.
