This week has been filled with tragedy, but there is some spark of hope for one family following the Brussels bombings of Tuesday, March 22.

According to reports, it is believed that a 23-year-old mother and her two-year-old daughter are the only survivors from the metro carriage in which a bomb was detonated.

Roxana Stefanuca and her daughter, Miruna, are said to be in critical condition in hospital, where they are being treated for burns. Little Miruna is also believed to be on breathing support for her injuries.

According to the Express, Roxana was returning from dropping her older child off at school when the incident occurred. The bomb exploded on their carriage, killing around 20 passengers.

Roxana, who is originally from Romania, has been living in Belgium with her family for the past five years.

Seven people have reportedly been arrested in terror raids, in the aftermath of Tuesday’s attacks at the Maalbeek Metro and Brussels Airport.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by these atrocities, and we’re sending well wishes for Roxana’s and Miruna’s recoveries.
