Many of you will no doubt be following the story of Sally Faulkner, who this week permitted a crew from Australia’s 60 Minutes to film the attempted rescue of her two young children from Lebanon.

Well, in the latest update to the story, it has emerged that just a day after 60 Minutes presenter Tara Brown and crew members from the show were arrested on suspicion of kidnap, Sally herself was detained by Lebanese police.

Sally entered the country in a bid to bring six-year-old daughter Lahela and two-year-old son Noah home with her to Australia. They were brought to Lebanon by their father, Ali Elamine, under the pretence that they were accompanying him on a holiday; he then refused to return them to Sally’s home country.

It has been reported that Sally enlisted the help of a professional agency to assist with the ‘rescue’, and reports this week claimed that they managed to reunite Sally with her kids, by taking them from a bus stop as they waited for their grandmother.

Since Sally’s arrest, it has also emerged that she has a three-month-old baby back at home in Australia, with her husband Brendan Pierce.

Australian representatives are said to be working closely with the Lebanese authorities in a bid to secure the group’s release.

We will keep you updated as more information emerges.
