There have been a number of frightening stories in recent times detailing how parents have fled to another country with their little ones, leaving the other parent devastated in their wake.

Now, a Brisbane-based mum has shared her own heartbreaking tale, after her estranged husband abducted their two children six weeks ago.

Sally Faulkner made an emotional appearance on A Current Affair last night, sharing the details of her devastating story.

The mother-of-two explained how she waved goodbye to her children, four-year-old Lahela and two-year-old Noah, who were supposedly going on a holiday to visit dad Ali Elamine’s family in Beirut, Lebanon.

However, shortly after her little ones left, Sally was informed of her estranged husband’s real plan, with the businessman telling her: “Sally, the kids aren’t coming home. Ever. They’re not coming back to Australia.”

The children are currently living in Beirut with their father, and they stay with their grandmother during the day while he works. Neither of the children speak any Arabic, while their grandmother apparently doesn’t speak a word of English.

The only contact Sally has had with her children has been via Skype calls, in which they have appeared visibly upset over being separated from their mother.

While a lawyer appearing on the show confirmed that Ali’s actions amount to child abduction, the fact that Lebanon is not a signatory to the Hague Convention means that authorities will not enforce the return of the children to Australia.

Issuing a heartfelt plea for the return of her kids, Sally said: “You know they want to come home. You know I’m a good mum. You know I’ve never denied you anything, especially to see your children. Don’t do this to me and don’t do this to our children.”

She added that, in the last conversation she had with daughter Lahela, the little girl was heard crying hysterically because she ‘didn’t want mummy to go’.

Let’s hope that Sally’s appeal will make some difference. We will keep you updated on the story as it progresses.
