Robert Day from Kent was reunited with his two young daughters after the girls were abducted by their mother in Thailand.

Their dad has had full custody of the two girls since 2010.

11-year-old Ananya and six-year-old Alina had flown to Thailand to visit their mother Onwarat Gamlem for a half-term holiday.

They were reported missing on June 1st when their mother failed to return them to England.

Thai police issued a child abduction warrant and following a three month search involving Interpol, the girls were found in an apartment in Bangkok with their mother – who has since been arrested.

Robert flew to Bangkok to meet his daughters, where they had a tearful reunion.

They will have to remain in Thailand to sort out legal issues and paperwork, and don’t know when they’ll be able to return to the UK.

The family is overjoyed to have the girls back, who are said to be upset they had to miss that last weeks of school.

The girls’ aunt, Charlotte Dillow said “both of the girls have missed so much - the last few weeks of school were especially important for Annie as she is due to start her new secondary school in September.”

Their grandmother Betty Day echoed this, saying that “She missed the leavers service and end of term celebrations, and sports day which they both would have loved taking part in.”

“The girls were born in Thailand but they go to school here. Their whole life is in England.”
