With so many shocking stories on the treatment of mums and babies doing the rounds, we can’t say we’re too surprised by this latest report.

A woman has confronted organisers of the TED Talks conference, after she and her child were ejected from one of their live events.

Author Jessica Jackley and her five-month-old baby were asked to leave an auditorium on Thursday, on the grounds that children were not permitted to attend.

In what has to be one of the greatest ironies we have ever heard, Jackley and her child were present to attend a conference themed on the empowerment of women and girls.

Jackley took to Twitter to hit out at the event organisers, criticising them for their double-standards.

“Confused. TEDWomen2015 ‘about the power of women and girls.’ But working moms? Was just asked to leave [because] my nursing five-month-old infant it with me,” wrote the frustrated mum.

Following the incident however, event organisers immediately set up a dedicated lounge for mothers, which seems to have impressed Jackley in spite of her disappointing experience.

“Wow! In the time it took to fly home the amazing TEDWomen team already set up lounge for moms, babies. Setting a great example,” she later added.

While she was no doubt left highly frustrated by the incident, Jackley’s followers praised her for being vocal on the subject.

“You’re a class act Jessica! This will go down as a situation that improves lives for moms and babies,” wrote one follower,
