We have heard some frightening stories of late regarding the treatment of children by parents and other people in positions of care, and this latest report is right up there.

Mum Michelle Schwab has been charged with child endangering after dropping her two-year-old son into a cheetah enclosure at a zoo in Cleveland.

The 37-year-old was reportedly seen dangling her child over the railings of the pit at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo last Saturday, with the little boy then slipping and falling 10 foot into it.

Schwab, who is a childcare boss, was then seen jumping over the railings and into the pit after her child, along with her husband.

The child, who was said to be screaming after the fall, suffered leg injuries and was brought to hospital for treatment.

Now, Ms Schwab has been charged with child endangering and faces up to six months in jail if convicted.

An investigation into the incident has now been launched, with Dr Christopher Kuhar of the Zoo confirming: “Child endangering charges have been filed with Cleveland Municipal Court in the incident from Saturday, April 11 when a two year old was dropped into the cheetah exhibit.”

We will keep you updated on the case as it progresses.
