Many of us have come to rely on Siri, Apple’s ‘intelligent personal assistant’, as an education source for trivia and little nuggets of useless information; but one Australian mum has just credited it with helping to save her daughter’s life.

Stacey Gleeson has urged parents everywhere to educate themselves on how to use Siri, after the function called an ambulance for her daughter during an emergency.

According to a report by local media outlet 7 News, Stacey was looking at one-year-old Giana’s baby monitor when she noticed that the tot had turned blue. When she reached her, she discovered that Giana had also stopped breathing.

Stacey proceeded to sit down on the floor with her daughter and check her airwaves, and although she had dropped her phone, she remembered an important piece of information: in the latest Apple models, you can activate Siri by voice control, by saying, ‘Hey, Siri’.

And so she called out, “Hey, Siri; call the ambulance”.

"And then, before I knew it, the ambulance was on its way and Giana was breathing again,” she recalled.

Stacey went on to credit Siri and its new voice control function with helping to save her daughter’s life, and she wants parents everywhere to know just what is possible with this app during an emergency.

SHARE to spread the word – it might just help to save another life.
