As this season’s Santa photos have proven, it’s the stories and the inspiration behind them that often make them so special, which is why one mum has been left ‘disappointed’ by the reaction to hers.

When Rebecca Dunbar posed for a photo of herself breastfeeding her baby while sitting on Santa’s lap, she wasn’t expecting to receive backlash from the online community.

That is exactly what has happened over the past week though, with people branding the photo “trashy” and “inappropriate” – despite Rebecca’s choice of caption, which reads “All I want for Christmas is a happy, healthy baby”.

The idea for the photo came while Rebecca was waiting in line with one of her one-year-old twins, who had become unsettled in the queue. Rebecca then began feeding the little one, and came up with the idea to capture the moment with Santa – which the photographer was only too happy to do.

The negative comments came thick and fast after Rebecca posted the photo to her Facebook page, something which, she admits, has left her feeling frustrated and upset.

In an interview with The Huffington Post this weekend, Rebecca said: “I just want it to be so normal that it doesn’t even need a discussion.”

“It is quite disappointing that people are so negative about it when it’s not meant to be that way. Partly, it was just to be funny,” she said.
