A mother launched a search for the mystery truck driver who saved her two children after a breakdown on a dangerous stretch of road.

Gemma Elsey-Kail was left “terrified” when her car broke down on a four-lane section of the M25 with no hard shoulder.

With cars speeding past at 70 miles per hour, the 32-year-old recruitment consultant didn’t know how she was going to get her children to safety.

However, help was at hand, with an Argos delivery man named Andy pulling up and shielding her car from traffic as she brought her frightened little ones, four-year-old Charlie and eight-month-old Harrison, to the grass verge at the side of the motorway.

The mystery lorry driver then directed the traffic around the two vehicles and waited until breakdown assistance arrived.

Gemma admitted that while she thanked the helpful man briefly, she wanted to give him the proper recognition that she felt he deserved.

After posting a message to Argos’ Facebook page appealing for him to get in contact, the company responded to Gemma informing her that they had notified their “overwhelmed” employee.

Her original post attracted 130,000 shares, with the hashtag ‘Argos Andy’ trending on the social media site.

It’s great to see these everyday acts of bravery and selflessness being recognised. Well done Andy!
