The mother of a 16-year-old boy who died after being hit by a car this week faced further heartbreak when she learned that images of her son's body were circulated online.

Connie Cole from Jacksonville, Florida expressed disgust after hearing that the 19-year-old individual suspected of her child's death posted photos of her son's body on social media, writing; "I just killed a man" and "RIP".

Connie's son, Trevius Williams, was on his way to the supermarket when he was struck by a vehicle at 8.40 pm last Sunday night and tragically passed away before his mother reached the hospital.

Recalling the tragic events of the weekend, a devastated Connie said: "You know, maybe he could just wake up, just wake up one more time, please Trevius. But he was already gone."

Considering the idea that the person responsible for her son's death would post a photo of his body online, Trevius's heartbroken mother asked First Coast News: "Who does that? You have to be some kind of monster."

"For somebody to plow my child down and just leave him in the street like a dog, in a pool of blood, I just can't imagine that," she lamented as she considered her son's final moments.

While the investigation into Trevius's death is still underway and charges have yet to be brought, local council member, Reginald Gaffney, asserted that the abuse of social media is an ongoing issue and will continue if legislation was not put in place to prevent it.
