We have previously reported on incidents where baby monitors appear to have been hacked, and this latest terrifying story takes it to a frightening new level.

A Minnesota family have been left horrified after discovering hacked photos of their child’s crib online.

The mother, who requested to remain anonymous so as to protect her’s and her family’s privacy, revealed that they discovered the hacking after hearing strange music playing from the child’s room.

The Rochester woman said that she grew alarmed when the music began playing at night, with no one having set it to come on.

After examining the camera set up in the crib, she realised that something was not quite right, and she and her family managed to track down the offending IP address of the hacker playing tricks.

What the family found was absolutely shocking. Tracing the IP address all the way over to Amsterdam, they found “thousands of thousands” of images from inside people’s homes, with their child’s crib among the photos.

Sharing the story with local media, the woman said: “There’s at least 15 different countries listed and it’s not just nurseries – it’s people’s living rooms, their bedrooms, their kitchens. Every place that people think is sacred and private in their home is being accessed.”

This is deeply disturbing, and serves to highlight why we need to be so careful with any technology introduced into the family home, particularly regarding our children.
