Every mum out there will know that, when it comes to our children, we’d move a mountain to see them happy. You will no doubt be as heartwarmed as us, then, when you find out what Michelle Hearnden is doing for her son.

The 47-year-old Australian has volunteered to act as surrogate for her son, Dan, and his partner, Kyia, after medics warned them against becoming pregnant.

The couple were left devastated when they lost their daughter, Rayah, at just six months, last year. The beloved tot was born prematurely and passed away from a chronic lung disease.

A distraught Kyia went on to be diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome, causing clotting and resulting in mini-strokes. Doctors have since told the couple that trying to conceive naturally may put Kyia’s life in jeopardy, as a result.

On their GoFundMe page (link here), Dan writes: “My mum has made the decision [that] she would like to be our surrogate and carry our baby for us through IVF Australia, in Bondi.”

They are now looking for help funding the procedure, with Dan explaining: “Being on a single wage with my mortgage and car repayments makes it impossible to save, and Mum is getting closer to the big 50 mark, so I thought I would see if we can speed all this up.”

The family’s target is set at $15K.

We’re wishing them all the best with their journey.
