Car safety is an absolute priority in our lives, particularly when we are driving around with precious little ones in the back seat, and one mum’s heartwrenching warning has really driven this home this week.

Meghan Felker has urged parents everywhere to ensure that they adhere to the correct car safety guidelines, so as not to let their little ones suffer in the same way as her 23-month-old son Eli has.

In a truly shocking Facebook photo post, Meghan revealed that, following a car crash, little Eli “isn’t going to make it” due to his horrific injuries.

“Our sweet boy isn’t going to make it with the fracture to his brain (he basically had a stroke) & his spinal cord injury. If there is one thing I want parents to take from this [it’s] PLEASE PLEASE make sure those buckles are tight and your sweet little one is rear-facing as long as possible,” wrote a distraught Meghan.

According to the details of a GoFundMe page set up for Meghan’s family (you can find the page through this link), her three-year-old daughter Maddy was also involved in the accident but only required a short stay in hospital.

Since first being shared last week, Meghan’s post has attracted plenty of attention online, being shared thousands of times.

It’s so important for parents to be aware of the appropriate safety precautions relating to travelling with a child. Follow this link for information on the do's and dont's of child car safety.

Our hearts go out to Meghan and her family at this devastating time.
