It was the feel-good story of the week that left us shocked but relieved, but now there has been a rather alarming update in the case of the Taiwanese woman who gave birth on board a flight to the US.

As new details of the woman’s story are revealed, it has been reported that she has been deported back to Taiwan – while her baby remains in the care of state authorities in Alaska.

Former flight attendant Lucienne Chen, who had gathered information from cabin crew on board during the dramatic incident, took to Facebook to shed some light on what really happened on that day.

Chen revealed that the woman was actually 36 weeks along in her pregnancy, making her four weeks over the 32-week mark that Taiwanese aviation regulations deem safe to fly.

While the woman had not informed cabin crew of how far along she really was, it is also claimed that she tried to hold off delivering her child until the plane was in US airspace.

Once the woman had given birth and the plane was on the ground, she and her child were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, while the child remains in the care of authorities in Alaska, the woman has been deported back to her home, at the other side of the world.

It is believed that the new mother may now be liable for the cost of the plane diversion.
