Mum's special message to daughter has hit the headlines

Just days after one mother treated her child to a particularly poignant present, another mum surprised her daughter by throwing an impromptu gathering in order to mark a significant milestone in her child's life.

Transgender teen, Gabrielle Diana Gladu from Ontario, was left speechless this week when she saw the lengths her mother had gone to in order to mark her official name change.

The brave teen, who has documented her journey online, has previously acknowledged the difficulty her mother may have with the transition, saying: "Mom’s not going to take it very well. She’s going to be confused and she’s going to be scared."

However, if recent developments are anything to go by, it looks like Gabrielle's fear had little grounding in reality.

Determined to celebrate her child's new chapter, Gabrielle's mum Rose name organised a gathering and treated guests to a cake iced with the words: "Congratulations, you are now Gabrielle!"

Taking to Twitter to pay tribute to her mum for making the occasion one to remember, Gabrielle uplaoded a video of the tender moment and offered a brief insight into the journey taken by trans teens all over the world.

Speaking to BuzzFeed News, the overwhelmed teen recalled the special milestone, saying: "It took me a moment to process what it said on the cake!"

Gabrielle's mother Rose said she was determined to mark the special moment in her daughter's life while in the company of loved ones.

"I came up the with idea of the cake as a vehicle to celebrate her name change while having an informal family dinner with those that support, love and care for her," explained Gabrielle's proud mother.

Reflecting on her decision, Rose said: "I was not expecting her to get so emotional that she became speechless. My daughter is never speechless."

Rose asserts that making the decision to pay tribute to her daughter in such a way had a marked effect on her child, saying: "I knew at that moment my child came back to me. She was on her way to who she had been from birth."
