"You need eyes in the back of your head" is a saying which is bandied about my parents all over the world on a daily basis - and with good reason!

From preventing potential spills to ️intercepting anything more sinister, parenthood is a 24/7 job, but there will always be times when something slips through the net, right?

One mum who knows this all too well is ️Katelyn Powell from ️California who spent six months agonising over her daughter's welfare after she began producing foul-smelling mucus from her nose.

Understandably concerned, ️Katelyn brought ️Khloe to see thee doctors and a dentist who all prescribed antibiotics, but were unable to establish a specific cause for the child's unfortunate symptoms.

But like all things, the truth will out eventually and so it did for the Powell family when Khloe revealed her secret after a particularly vigorous nose-blowing session.

Dislodging a safety pin approximately 1.5 inches in length, the five-year-old was forced to admit she had engaged in a game to see how far she could push the pins up her nose.

"She said she was pulling it out and back in and out, and I was just like, how did I not notice her doing this," admits Katelyn as she cast her mind back over the events of the past six months.

Both horrified and relieved in equal measure, Khloe's mum insists she doesn't place any blame on the medical professionals who failed to spot the common household item, explaining: "[It was] high up in Khloe's nose and covered in mucus."

Determined to avoid any future mishaps of this nature, ️Katelyn reminded Khloe of the dangers associated with such activity.telling ABC News: "We've also since had the talk and there will be nothing going up in her nose again. Never again."

Well, they do say you shouldn't put anything smaller than your elbow up there, after all!
