There has been an outpouring of complaints from concerned parents following the appearance of a sexually explicit advert on popular children's app, Talking Tom.

The advert, which promoted a pornographic website, found its way on to the app after a third party reportedly hacked the system.

Commenting on the shocking image which featured a naked woman engaging in sexual activity, Outfit 7, who operate the Talking Tom app, have revealed that they are struggling to track down the hackers.

Similarly, the company which was advertised on the explicit image have told the Advertising Standards Authority that they have thus far been unable to determine who was responsible for placing the inappropriate advert, but assert they have no control over where their adverts are placed.

Outfit 7 have apologised for the appearance of the advert while the ASA have insisted the advertised company must ensure their ads do not appear on apps aimed at children.

The incident serves as a stark reminder to all parents to monitor their children's use of technology.
