It’s often said that you need eyes in the back of your head to keep up with a toddler, and the tragic story of Bronwyn Taylor’s death has highlighted the importance of ensuring safety in the home.

The family of 16-month-old Bronwyn have urged parents to be vigilant for ‘silly accidents’, after the toddler died from getting stuck in a window blind cord.

Little Bronwyn was playing in her grandparents’ house with her older brother Boden, who has cerebral palsy, when the incident occurred, in a matter of mere 'seconds'.

Bronwyn’s parents were at the theatre for the day with their other two children, while Bronwyn and Boden stayed at their grandparents’ home in Stoke-on-Trent.

The child was immediately rushed to the nearby Royal Stoke University Hospital, where she tragically passed away on Saturday, April 2.

Speaking out after their devastating loss, brave parents Matthew and Cathy have pleaded with parents to ensure that every precaution is taken to avoid such ‘freak accidents’ occurring in the home.

According to The Independent, Matthew said: “You hear about stuff happening like that, but you think in the house you’re safe…The leads were up out of the way, we don’t know how they came down.”

“It takes a split second. We are trying to get the message out there – it happened to be blinds, but it could have been anything…Bronwyn... has missed out on the rest of her life because of a five-second accident,” he added.

Our hearts go out to the family at this tragic time.
