They have done Trojan work in the name of charity since their devastating ordeal three years ago, but this couple had a different kind of announcement to share through their social media channels this weekend.

Kevin and Marina Krim, who lost two precious children in a shocking murder three years ago, have revealed that they are expecting a baby.

The couple, who founded the Lulu & Leo Fund in honour of their late children, shared the news in a statement, writing: “The fall is a busy and emotional time of year for us. We have the important anniversaries of Leo’s birthday and Lulu and Leo’s deaths."

“We also have some wonderful news: Marina is pregnant with a baby boy, due in late January. Nessie [their eldest child] is excited about her new role as queen bee of the family, and little Felix (who turns two this weekend) is thrilled to give up his crib to become roommates with Nessie in a new bunk bed!” they added.

On October 25, 2012, six-year-old Lucia ‘Lulu’ and her 20-month-old brother Leo were allegedly stabbed to death by the Krims’ part-time nanny, Yoselyn Ortega. Marina was at a swimming lesson with Nessie at the time, and discovered her children in the bath when she arrived home.

Having realised that Marina had discovered the bodies of her children, Ortega proceeded to stab herself, but she survived. She claims to this day that she has no recollection of the attacks. Three years later, Ortega remains in custody, and no trial date has been set as of yet.

Following the tragic loss of their son and daughter, the Krims set up the Lulu & Leo Fund; a non-profit charity supporting arts programmes for disadvantaged children.

The Krims are in our thoughts, and we congratulate them on this lovely update.
