Over 30 visitors to Alton Towers were left stuck on the Smiler rollercoaster this afternoon, a year on from the crash that left a number of people seriously injured.

According to reports, the notorious Smiler broke down yet again today, leaving dozens of people trapped for over an hour.

The latest incident comes just six months after the ride's reopening following last year’s horror crash.

A number of people were left seriously injured in the crash, which took place in June 2015 - two people were left requiring amputations to their legs.

And today, true to form, Katie Hopkins decided to have her say on the incident, this time calling on bookies to place bets for the next time kids became trapped on the ride.

Taking to Twitter, the 41-year-old wrote: "Have you ever thought about taking bets on The Smiler@paddypower ....I mean, kids just never know if they are coming off that thing alive."

But the Twitter-sphere was not about to let her get away with her vile comment, and took to the social media site in their droves to let their feels on her controversial tweet be known.
