If there’s one thing that the viral photos and videos of recent times have taught us, it is this: most police officers will go above and beyond the call of duty for the good of another.
This has been proven yet again, by an officer named Michelle Burton, in Alabama, US.
Michelle’s husband Brian took to Facebook this week to share a photo of her comforting the baby of a couple who had overdosed – and the story has touched hearts all over the world.
In the post, Brian explained how Michelle had been in touch to inform him that she would be late home one night, as she was responding to a call where the parents of four young children – their ages ranging from seven years to one month – had overdosed.
It soon emerged that the father had passed away, while the mother was left in a ‘critical’ condition.
“She spent the rest of the night taking care of these babies. She got home at 4 this morning. I’ve never seen her more beautiful than in this picture. What an incredible woman,” gushed Brian.
Needless to say, the post has been flooded with comments of admiration and gratitude for Officer Burton’s dedication.
It has since emerged that the children’s mother survived the overdose.
