Police in Manchester are appealing to the public for help in their search for a mum and her five-year-old son who have been missing since Friday.

Samantha Hayes and her son, Liam Stevenson, were spotted on Friday afternoon in Rusholme, Manchester, and are believed to have taken a taxi to Gorton at around 7:20pm. They were last seen getting out at an address near Tesco on Hyde Road.

30-year-old Samantha is described as having long hair with purple tips and is wearing a blue puffer style jacket. Little Liam was last seen wearing grey school trousers, pale blue T-shirt, blue sweatshirt, a pair of glasses with Avengers on it and a navy blue waterproof coat.

Appealing to both the public and Samantha, Detective Chief Inspector Dave Pester from Greater Manchester Police, said: “We are making numerous enquiries to trace Samantha and Liam and just want to know that they are both safe. I would like to stress to Samantha that she is not in any kind of trouble, but we just want her to get in touch so we know she and Liam are OK.”
