There was widespread relief this week, when it was announced that police in Albuquerque, US had safely located a three-year-old child reported missing after her mother’s car was stolen.

Little Caraline Leon-Alcocar was in the car, in a supermarket car park on Saturday, when an as yet unidentified thief broke in and drove away with her.

Police immediately launched a search for the vehicle, and it was found shortly after – however, little Caraline was not inside.

The authorities broadened their search, and it was Police Officer Chris Poccia who finally located Caraline shortly after midnight, alone in an empty car park.

In released footage of the dramatic rescue, Caraline is heard repeatedly telling Officer Poccia and his colleagues that she is cold. Throughout the footage, the officers can be heard comforting the little one through the ordeal.

Thankfully, according to the latest reports, Caraline was unharmed – just “very cold and very scared”.

Police have now launched a full investigation into the incident, and their main priority is identifying and locating the car thief.

We are so glad to hear that this poor little mite is doing well after her frightening ordeal, and we hope that justice will be brought in her case.
