There has been a major push on raising awareness on this issue in recent times, and it looks as though one life has been saved as a result of the various reports and educational videos doing the rounds right now.

According to reports this week, a police officer and his wife have saved the life of an infant who was left alone inside a hot car.

Officer Tyler Brannon and his wife, Amanda, were out picking up food and a collar for their new puppy last weekend, when they heard an alarming noise in the car park.

“We immediately looked at each other when we heard the sound. At first, it sort of sounded like a screaming cat, and I thought, ‘I hope that’s not a baby’ because I couldn’t hear any vehicles running. We began looking in vehicles, trying to figure out where the sound was coming from,” said Officer Brannon.

Pretty soon, Amanda figured out where the sound was coming from – a van containing a baby girl, no more than a year old.

The door had been left unlocked so, thankfully, the Brannons were able to take the child out of the hot vehicle. When they held her, they found her to be soaking wet and showing signs of dehydration.

After contacting the police, it emerged that the baby had been left inside the van by her babysitter.

The child was rushed to hospital for treatment. It is not yet known if the babysitter is facing charges.
