The probe into Madeleine McCann's disappearance will be granted more funding to keep on searching for the missing girl.

Money for the investigation, known as Operation Grange, was set to run out at the end of this month.

Government funding for the Metropolitan Police inquiry has been agreed upon every six months. In October 2017, £154,000 was granted to last through the end of March.

A spokesperson told BreakingNews.ie, "The Government remains committed to the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

"We have briefed the MPS that its application for Special Grant funding for Operation Grange will be granted."

The government has so far invested more than £11 million to find Madeleine.

The girl was only three years old when she vanished from a holiday apartment in Praia Luz, Portugal in 2007.

Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have said in the past that they will never give up hope of finding their eldest daughter and they are grateful for the continued investigation.
