Anyone who has been through a health scare with a little one will know how much they come to rely on their toys and teddies for comfort, so we can totally understand the plight of the family in the following report.

A mum’s urgent Facebook plea to find her ill daughter’s beloved teddy ended on a positive note this weekend, when caring strangers reunited the little one with her toy last night.

Ange Stewart took to Facebook earlier this week asking for help in finding a much-loved Mickey Mouse teddy belonging to her five-year-old daughter, Charlotte, who has been a regular patient at Auckland’s Starship Hospital for three years.

The doting mum revealed that little Charlotte had left Mickey on a table at a rest stop on the way for treatment at the hospital, and was lost without her cuddly friend. They were so eager to locate Mickey that Ange’s husband Tony even drove all the way back to the rest stop, but to no avail.

“PLEASE, if anyone found it can they please help us to get it back! Mickey has been through everything with Charlotte. Right from the beginning. She is, as you can imagine, beside herself,” wrote Ange.

This story really does reflect the positive power of social media as, after the post was shared thousands of times, Mickey was finally located – at the bottom of a warehouse bin, about 50km from where Charlotte had left him.

Taking to Facebook to share the good news, Ange wrote: “We can never thank everyone enough for all their thoughts, sharing, and even some beautiful offers. Without each and every one of you taking the time of share Charlotte’s post, this beautiful, happy reunion would not [have] been made possible.”

What a gorgeous story. We are so thrilled for Charlotte, and we’re wishing her the best of luck with her treatment.
