The internet can be a dangerous place for us and our children, and this is something that Australian mum and fashion PR mogul Roxy Jacenko has learned the hard way.

Jacenko has shared her disgust this week after discovering that her four-year-old daughter’s image has been manipulated to appear in ‘sick’, explicit photos.

Pixie Curtis may only be four, but she has developed a strong Instagram following with photos of her jet-set lifestyle. As the face of her and Jacenko’s business, Pixie’s Bows, she regularly appears on the photo-blogging site posing with the pretty headgear.

In an interview with local Australian radio station KIISFM this week, Jacenko admitted that she was left ‘shaken’ after finding out that Pixie was at the centre of the sick photo ploy. In one photo, little Pixie’s image was taken and manipulated to show her ‘appearing’ in a booth beside a prostitute, in Amsterdam’s red light district.

The images, which Jacenko believes were created by prominent members of the Australian fashion industry, were distributed to people online.

Jacenko, who has now switched Pixie’s Instagram account to ‘private’, told the station that the authorities are now involved.

“The police take this sort of thing really seriously. They’ve been amazing,” said the concerned mother.

While hundreds have expressed support for Jacenko and Pixie in their ordeal, the businesswoman’s concern over losing business by keeping the account on private has proven rather unpopular.

“I wonder how Pixie Curtis will feel about all this when she eventually learns how to Google herself,” mused one Twitter user.

Another replied: “Poor Pixie, no chance of anonymity for her.”
