This RTÉ presenter has never been one to keep schtum, so it's no surprise that Jennifer Maguire is more than willing to open up about the birthing process in the days leading up to her delivery.

The TV and radio star, who has already past her due date, spoke to the Sunday Independent about impending motherhood, saying: "I'm staying positive and remembering we were built to do this."

Speaking candidly about her options during the labour, Jennifer has asserted that she never intended to request an epidural, admitting: "I just don't like the thought of being out of it or paralysed. That epidural scares me more then the birth. And it's a form of pain relief, not a way to give birth."

However Jennifer is aware that these things don't always go to plan and is open to change, saying: "That's the plan but you never know how it's going to go."

Keen to focus her attention on the many positive aspects of the experience and eager to explain the idea behind hypnobirthing , the Breakfast Republic star said: "The whole ethos and concept of it is that if the mother is completely relaxed and has no fear, then her body will not tense up, making it less painful and an all-round better experience."

With classic good-humour, Jennifer joked: "It shouldn't be a medical procedure. It's the most natural thing in the world as The Snapper's Georgie Burgess says."

With many aghast that the presenter decided to work right up until her due date, the 32-year-old star said her reasoning behind the decision was very simple, revealing: "I suppose I worked right up to my due date because I felt great. I was lucky to have it easy in the last few months,"

We're looking forward to hearing an update on Jennifer's progress!
