A woman in Hawaii, who plans on giving birth in the ocean, is being advised of the dangers if she decides to go through with it.

Spiritual healer Dorina Rosin and husband Maika Suneagle are planning on the water birth with a difference, and are hoping their midwife will be a dolphin.

The couple, who star in Katie Piper’s new documentary Extraordinary Births which will be aired tonight, believe it will enhance their experience of labour, and hopefully help their baby learn Dolphin.

Both Dorina and Maika, who run the Hawaii Spirit Healing Sanctuary, believe a dolphin’s song has healing properties, and are well used to the friendly creatures.

However, experts have said that the expectant mum may be putting her baby in danger, particularly with the risks of Great White Sharks and the unpredictable nature of dolphins.

But mum-of-one Katie took to Lorraine to defend the couple’s choice, saying: "Dolphins are clever and [Dorina] felt really connected to them. I thought, well it isn't for me but it's right for her. You know, happy mum, happy baby!"

While she admits that it’s not her cup of tea, the philanthropist told The Times: "I found the dolphin people a bit out-there but they seemed so happy and the woman was so relaxed. I just thought everybody was wonderful and it was all a bit of an eye-opener."
