Yesterday, we reported on a story in the UK, whereby a woman was attacked while in labour, and today we are hearing a similarly shocking report.

A pregnant woman was one of two people shot last night in Dublin, in what Gardaí believe to be a gangland shooting.

According to reports, the woman and a male companion were attacked at a house in Grange View Lawns in Clondalkin late last night.

A lone gunman is said to have fired a number of shots as he approached the couple, while it remains unclear as to whether the attack took place inside or outside of the house.

Sources claim that the woman was shot in the arm, and the man was hit at least once in the abdomen. Early reports say that their injuries are not life-threatening.

The alarm was raised after the Dublin Fire Brigade received an emergency call, claiming that a pregnant woman and her partner had been shot.

Both were treated for their injuries at Tallaght Hospital.

To hear two such stories in as many days is deeply concerning and shocking. We hope that the man and woman in this case make a full recovery.
