Members of the public have been hailed for their bravery this week, after intervening to save a child who was abducted from Manchester City.

According to reports, passers-by thwarted the alleged abduction attempt, after hearing the frantic screams of the mother, shortly before 7pm yesterday.

The as yet unnamed woman is said to have run outside of a Primark store in the city. She shouted at passers-by, saying that her little girl was missing.

The five-year-old child was then apparently seen walking down Market Street with the man, who is unknown to the family.

Luckily, after being alerted by the child’s mother, the passing strangers managed to stop the man by ‘tackling him to the ground’. They held the man – believed to be in his early fifties – until the police arrived on the scene.

The man was then arrested, while the little girl was reunited with her shocked mother.

It has since been reported that the man in question has been charged on suspicion of attempted child abduction. He is said to be in custody today.

We can’t imagine how terrifying this ordeal must have been for the family, and we are so relieved to hear that the little girl is OK. Let’s hope she and her mother get the support they need, after such a frightening incident.
