We've all heard not to seek advice on the internet, but sometimes the 'net - or rather, the people behind it - can do a lot of good.

This story is a great example of that.

A worried pregnant woman living in Indiana recently posted in a Reddit forum, explaining how she'd had a visit from a Child Services worker.

She introduced herself, saying: "I’m 29 years old, happily married, my husband and I are college-educated, have stable jobs, own a home in a nice neighborhood…

"We’re basically as prepared as anyone can be to start a family. I’m almost nine months pregnant with our first child,” she wrote.

The mum-to-be explained how her husband had a previous conviction for possession of marijuana, from when he was 18.

However he'd since turned his life around, didn't use any drugs and rarely drank.

She was advised that allegations of drug use had been made about her and her husband, and that they would have to be investigated because of her husband's record.

At first, the couple complied with interviews, provided clean drug tests, and even allowed an inspection of their home.

But soon, they grew suspicious of the woman's intentions.

The mum-to-be was horrified when the child protection worker informed her that there was a possibility her baby could be taken away at birth.

When she quizzed the worker about it, she replied, "It's not up to me."

The desperate woman posted her story on Reddit, asking for advice and wondering if she should hire a lawyer.

Thankfully, former child services workers saw her post and informed her that this was not standard procedure in pregnancy cases.

The woman then posted THIS shocking update, explaining what happened after she hired a lawyer:

[UPDATE] I'm pregnant and being investigated by DCS. from legaladvice

We can't believe this - it's absolutely chilling that someone would terrify a heavily pregnant woman like this.

We wish her all the best with the birth and the new arrival.
