Following a fresh appeal for information by Ben’s mother this week, a young man has come forward claiming that he ‘resembles’ Ben.
Ben was just 21-months-old when he went missing while on a family holiday on the island of Kos in 1991.
Ben’s mum Kerry made an emotional appeal for information earlier this week on Greek television, accompanied by her mother Christine and daughter Leighanna.
During the three-hour TV appearance, Kerry appealed: “Please end the pain that my family is suffering. I know he’s out there somewhere. Please call the police and please put an end to this.”
According to reports, officers are liaising with the young man who got in touch, and a DNA test will be carried out in the coming days.
A representative from South Yorkshire Police said that they received ‘a number of calls’ after the appeal went out on air.
Let’s hope that there is some positive news for the Needham family after their heartbreaking ordeal.

Following reports this morning that police were investigating claims by a man that he resembled Ben, his mum Kerry has issued a statement confirming that this information has been dealt with already by authorities.
However, Kerry did add that a photograph was sent in to the network which aired the appeal programme, which may be of interest. She added that she will keep the public updated as more information emerges.
Her full statement reads:
"Myself and family would like to thank everyone once again for your massive support either financially by donations or messages of love and support.
The Greek TV show last night had a massive impact on Ben's investigation and new information was given to S Y Police on the show and also to operation Ben headquarters in the UK .
This information will now be investigated by British detectives.
I want to make it clear that the information about someone who called the show claiming to be Ben is OLD information and was already dealt with. However a photograph was sent to the show which I have seen but I believe stronger information should take priority, I will update as often as I can. #helpfindben."
