It was only a few months ago that the hugely popular chain came up with an ingenious way of making it easier for young families to enjoy their meal, and now Chick-fil-A has gone a step further, and all to ban technology from the dinner table.
The much-loved US restaurant chain recently launched its Cell Phone Coop Challenge, offering a special free treat to families who make it through their meal without so much as picking up their phone.
Those families taking part in the challenge are handed a ‘cell phone coop’, which is essentially a cardboard box, and asked to switch their phones to silent before placing inside the box. Then, if the family sticks to the rule, all they need to do is inform a member of staff and they each receive a free dessert.
As simple as this campaign may be, it addresses an issue that many families have trouble with: how to disconnect from technology in order to spend a little quality time together at the dinner table. And, as we know well, the incentive of a free treat is often enough in itself to motivate even the most hardened tech-addict. So, we applaud Chick-fil-A for their inventive idea!
If social media is anything to go by, the campaign is already going down a treat, too!
Chick-fil-A is nailing the #BalanceOrBust trend: consumers can counterbalance tech time w/ a "cell phone coop." https://t.co/7SS9vKKYSf
