School can be a tough time for some children, and it can often be enough for them to look after themselves – never mind adding another person to the mix.
Dylan Duran proved just how kind and caring some children can be, however, with his amazing gesture to a struggling school friend.
Dylan’s mum Josette took to Facebook Live recently, to share a story that had melted her heart and changed many lives in her son’s school.
She revealed that Dylan had been asking for two lunches of late, and she had happily packed them, in the belief that he was hungry.
After a few weeks, she asked him if he wasn’t getting enough food – and his response shocked and moved her.
As it turned out, the extra lunch was for another little boy at school who couldn’t afford to buy his own lunch.
“He only eats a fruit cup for lunch. Can you make him lunch too? I don’t think he has lunch money,” Dylan told Josette, from New Mexico.
It didn’t take long for the other little boy’s mother to find out about Dylan and Josette’s amazing gesture, and she got in touch with the school to send on a message.
The mother told Josette that she had recently been employed, and she wanted to pay her back for feeding her son out of the goodness of her heart.
When Josette declined the money, the girls’ volleyball team (which she coaches) instead raised $400 to pay her back. Again, Josette refused to take the money. Instead, she donated it to the school’s cafeteria.
“We paid up all the past due accounts for all the kids who need lunch. So now, nobody in that school owes any money, and now everyone can eat,” she explained, in the video.
