Following an appeal from a heartbroken family in Co. Tipperary, the Irish public have rallied together in order to create an exceptionally special day for a terminally ill little boy named Sebastian.

Having shared Sebastian's story on the Ray D'arcy Show yesterday, the little boy's family have returned to the airwaves to express their gratitude at the response of the Irish public.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Sebastian's uncle Dan said: "Everyone has been brilliant. It's unbelievable. It's an amazing response. We can't thank everyone enough for all their support and good wishes."

Having just returned from Finland where he spoke to a certain Santa Claus who said he was more than happy to take part in the little boy's special day, Dan revealed: "I think we have everything we need in place ten or 20 times over, people have been so generous, with offers of snow machines and ploughs. We're just going through emails and Facebook messages and calls to see what we can use."

Commenting on the influx of emails sent to the show following Sebastian's father's appearance, host Ray D' Arcy said: "The humanity of our listeners over the last 24 hours has been amazing. I was taken aback. We received thousands of emails. The phone in the office has been going all morning,"

It wasn't only adults who were touched by Sebastian's story, with children offering their Communion money and leftover Christmas wrapping paper in an attempt to make Sebastian's day as special as possible.

While sincerely grateful for the thousands of proposed donations, Dan explained that it would not be possible to accept them all, saying: "As much as we would love to have have a huge party, he won't be able to handle much more."

Should you wish to make a donation in Sebastian's name, Dan advised members of the public to donate to a registered children's cancer charity.
