According to reports, seven members of the same family have died in China after jumping into a reservoir to save a 17-year-old relative.
Sources say that the family were on attending a ceremony honouring deceased relatives in the south of the country, when the 17-year-old girl fell into the reservoir while washing her hands.
While none of the teenager’s relatives are said to have been strong swimmers, they entered the water regardless in a brave attempt to rescue the girl.
A statement on the tragic incident was released by a city official, who confirmed that the girl and six of her relatives had passed away, including both of her parents and two other children, aged just 13 and 15.
