A six-year-old boy is said to be recovering after being blown into the sea while playing on a bouncy castle during a festival on the Isle of Man.

Liam Hansen was enjoying a day out at the Douglas Carnival when the bouncy castle he was playing on it was lifted by a gust of wind and propelled into the sea.

Having just removed his own son from the same castle, Johnny Glover was stunned to watch the inflatable attraction lift above ground and launch Liam into the sea.

Springing into action, Johnny jumped into the water and rescued the terrified little boy who was transferred to Nobels Hospital but discharged later that day.

Praising her fiancé's speedy reaction, Scarlett O'Hare said: "Johnny jumped in to rescue the boy in the water who was struggling to keep afloat - the fear on his face was horrific. I’m so proud of my wonderful fiancé for saving him."

Commenting on Liam's playmate, Scarlett went on to explain: "The second boy had hung on to a part of the castle still on the promenade and crawled out from underneath."

Understandably horrified by the freak accident which could have claimed the life of her son, Liam's mum Clodagh said: "He was playing with his friend when the castle was taken by the wind. He went over the wall and into the sea. It was a big drop and we are very lucky the tide was in or it could have been much worse."

Opening up about the effect the shock had on her little boy,Clodagh said: "He was terrified and sad - it was the worst day of his life."

Paying tribute to the man who rescued her son from the water, the stunned mum explained: "Words cannot express how grateful I am,"

In light of the shocking incident, Douglas Corporation released a statement, saying: "Douglas Borough Council is unable to comment further until a full investigation has been carried out, save to extend its gratitude to the gentleman who brought the child out of the water and to other members of the public who assisted."

We're delighted to know Liam is doing well despite the frightening event.
