According to figures released by the Dublin Regional Homeless Executive, almost 1,000 children were homeless and living in emergency conditions in Dublin over a six-day period last year.

The statistics, which refer to a period between the 23rd and 29th of March last year, indicate that 911 children were without a home in the country's capital during that time.

The Dublin Region Homeless Executive asserts that in the 4th week of March a sum total of 1482 people sought and secured emergency accommodation.

This figure accounts for 411 families which is a significant jump from the previous month's figure of 371.

The publication of these figure follows concerns raised after Fianna Fáil reported that there has been a 25% increase in the number of homeless families in Dublin city since December.

According to the Homeless Executive, services across Dublin's four local authorities are currently dealing with 'unprecedented demand' for emergency accommodation.
