We hope you're staying safe and warm, since there's plenty more snow en route!

Met Éireann has put a status red snow-ice warning in place today for Munster, Leinster, and Galway which is valid from 6am this morning until 6pm.

Strong easterly winds are expected while the snow will keep on falling in Munster, Leinster, and parts of Connacht.

The National Emergency Co-Ordination Group (NECG) says that 'blizzard conditions have passed and the public safety advice to shelter indoors is withdrawn'.

However, they still ask that people 'exercise high levels of caution for their own safety in the extreme cold, accumulated snow and icy conditions underfoot'. The NECG advises that people listen for local updates on road conditions, as roads may not be open for some time.

A status orange snow-ice warning has been issued for Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo and remains in place from just after midnight last night until 6pm today.

These counties will experience icy conditions. The northwest will also have scattered snow showers.

The cold is continuing today, with the highest temperatures being -1 to 2 degrees Celsius.

Tonight, the snowfall will lighten and northeasterly winds will ease. Temperatures will reach a low of 0 to -3 degrees tonight, and many places will have a sharp frost.

Snow showers tomorrow are expected to turn into rain as temperatures rise, with highs of 2 to 5 degrees.

Again, stay safe!
