In the 1990s, O'Neill hit our television screens in a number of small appearances, but his big break came on Fair City in 2006.
The 47-year-old starred in the sixth and final seventh season of Sons of Anarchy.
His latest role was in the 2016 film Urge, as the Captain.
O'Neill was reportedly uncovered on Wednesday night, at an apartment in Los Angeles.
Foul play has been ruled out in his death.
