Anyone who has tried to juggle keeping a newborn calm and soothed while doing the grocery shopping will know how tricky it can be, and it all could have ended disastrously for mum Chloe Grant during a recent outing with her tiny tot.

The 25-year-old was shopping with her four-week-old son, in a Woolworths in Australia, when he suddenly started ‘screaming’ and could not be settled.

Chloe was approaching the cash register at the time, with a very full trolley, and the stress of the situation started to get to her – until, that is, the friendly store clerk went ‘above and beyond’ to help her out.

In a Facebook post shared to the Woolworths page, Chloe explained the situation and paid tribute to the wonderful and compassionate store employee.

@Woolworths,I'm writing to inform you of my experience at your store in Warwick, QLD earlier today. I was just...

“One of your staff members saw me trying to manoeuvre my heavy trolley with one hand while rocking my newborn son in the other. She insisted on unpacking my groceries out of the trolley for me at the checkout, and then repacked them for me once I'd paid. She then offered to accompany me to the undercover car park, pushing my trolley as I settled my baby. Once arriving at the car, this beautiful lady then held (and managed to get a burp out of!) my baby as I packed the car, and she assured me if I ever needed a hand with my shopping not to hesitate to ask any staff member to help,” she wrote.

Thankfully, a niece of the very lovely store clerk, Jackie Mikkelsen, saw the piece and put two and two together. After spotting Chloe’s lovely message, Jackie responded in modest fashion.

“We know how stressful it is with little ones, as most of us have been there and done that, so you are not alone. You are so welcome. What a beautiful mum and gorgeous little boy,” wrote Jackie.

We always say it, but little gestures of kindness really do make the world go around.
